I’ve played tennis since third grade. At Monte Vista, the court has become a place to compete, support younger players, and think about what leadership looks like in everyday practice.

I joined the JV team as a freshman and was elected captain in my junior year. I help organize practices, prepare courts, lead warmups, coordinate uniforms, and mentor new players.
As team photographer, I document practices and matches for the school newspaper and media, bringing together two interests that have shaped my high school experience.

Preparation
Setting up courts and helping practices run smoothly is part of creating an environment where players can focus and improve.
Encouragement
I try to make new teammates feel included and help them find their confidence in the group.
Representation
Photographing the team led me to think more carefully about how athletes are portrayed. That interest connects directly to my research on gender bias in tennis media.
